Hi everyone!
I need some input. I am totally tech. impaired and I need to get up to date on things. I want to get an MP3 player but don't know which one to get. I'd like to know your personal experiences. My computer won't let me burn CD's anymore. I'd like to get a player that can hold a lot of songs. I guess the iPod only works with iTunes. I've never used iTunes before. Does it have a good selection? I like a large range of music but mostly Industrial. It wouldn't seem a good buy if there isn't much of that to download. Also ease of use? Basically I'll be playing this sucker in the car while making my LOOONG trek to class everyday.
Thanks,
Val

Re: best MP3 player? x-post
Tue, January 22, 2008 - 2:12 PMBeing a (tech head) i would recommend one of the larger ipod's strictly for ease of use. I use a creative player myself but thats just do to my audio snobbery (better converters). I have setup my GF & friends with ipods. Yes it will mean you will use itunes but that will most likely help you out.
itunes and the itunes music store are 2 different things. itunes itself will let you play/organize/and transfer to your ipod any of the major formats that you will want to use.
So just ask yourself 2 things
Do you want less hassle and just want to listen to some music? if so go ipod
Do you want to be a bit of an outsider consumer/better potential quality/less$ but have more tech hassles? - if so going with something else. -

Mon, February 4, 2008 - 7:04 PMI like some of the open source ones that dont prevent you from listening to music without a license. -

Thu, February 7, 2008 - 1:53 PMYou can have the i-pod.
I use this: people.tribe.net/dvdburner...ca5452dd97
it's small and is usb ready and I store both music and software and everything else on it.
It has a memory slot to increase memory. Ok so it does not initially hold as much as the ipod but I am not restricted to apple or anyones media licensing. There are new versions of this guy; this one is the RCA rd1080b.
It's old now but like I said, there are a ton of new versions out of it now with increased memory.
it's known as the "LYRA"
inexpensive, sounds better than the ipod, smaller and lighter. Hook up some AKG or Sennheiser headphones to it and you are good to go.
how about this, if you loose this guy you aint hurtin, loose an ipod and you are out what? 200-600 bucks? -
