I need some input. I am totally tech. impaired and I need to get up to date on things. I want to get an MP3 player but don't know which one to get. I'd like to know your personal experiences. My computer won't let me burn CD's anymore. I'd like to get a player that can hold a lot of songs. I guess the iPod only works with iTunes. I've never used iTunes before. Does it have a good selection? I like a large range of music but mostly Industrial. It wouldn't seem a good buy if there isn't much of that to download. Also ease of use? Basically I'll be playing this sucker in the car while making my LOOONG trek to class everyday.
Endif (CrunchPod - NV) draws upon a broad spectrum of experiences and influences and distills them into weapons-grade hard-electronic; Original sonic compositions incorporating a syncrete of techniques with a mind altering rhythmic bent and a fierce uncompromising aesthetic. Since 1994 Endif has played close t live shows with a diverse roster of artists, tracks have been featured on numerous compilations, remixes published on close to a dozen albums. 2005 saw a split EP with Caustic, and Crunch Pod released Endif's first full length CD 'Meta' in 2006. www.myspace.com/endif

C/A/T (CrunchPod - CA) [pronounced "cat"] started out as a solo, audio experiment by Crunch Pod label founder Ben Arp. After several CD-R only releases, C/A/T introduced itself with the "Worldwide Totalitarian Control" CD-EP. The "WTC" EP and the following album "The Prisoner" were both tied heavily to political commentary and still maintained many of the more experimental aspects of C/A/T's earlier days. C/A/T's next offering was 2005's "The Rogue Pair". It was at this time, Arp added band member Kat to the project for additional live support. The more accessible rhythmic noise sound ushered in with "The Rogue Pair" opened the door for C/A/T to play live more often and at higher profile events and clubs. Not wanting to drop completely off the radar until a new album was ready, C/A/T released the "ATF" EP in on June 6th, 2006. "ATF" featured two of C/A/T's most popular tracks, 'Smashed' and '(We Make) Music To Piss You Off' and is limited to 666 copies making it one of the more sought after releases in the C/A/T discography. The post-"ATF" era of C/A/T featured a lot of line-up changes and sporadic live shows [playing such events as the 2006 edition of the Reverence Festival in Madison, Wisconsin and C.O.M.A. 4 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada]. Arp finally finished an album called "Point Of No Return" which was released in June of 2007. "Point Of No Return" featured more structured song-writing and the project's first attempt at adding vocals and lyrics to the tracks. Arp is currently in the studio working on C/A/T's 3rd full length album, "51X", which has a projected release date of May 2008. www.crunchpod.com/
Pure Cirkus was born in 2003 as a Seattle-based body art theatre group called P.U.R.E. (People Undergoing Real Experiences). For two years the group performed only within the small community of body modification and suspension, keeping to nightclubs and private events. In the summer of 2005, as they began combining both circus talents and body modification, the group realized that they had something far larger then they had ever imagined. On Oct 28th 2005, almost overnight, the group called P.U.R.E was transformed into PURE Cirkus and performed for the first time under their new name. By pulling together talented performers from all over the country they push the limits of the human mind and body by combining circus performance with Tribal theatre. They have embraced all forms of entertainers such as jugglers, clowns, sideshow freaks, fire, suspension and piercing enthusiasts, dancers, acrobats, aerialists, musicians and other circus and cabaret artists that have come together to build what will be a lasting circus that will entertain people for generations. www.purecirkus.com/

My own music is varied, though there is quite a bit that does have an industrial edge to it. My best description would be sort of a modernized version of early industrial experimentation. You can listen to some songs and find the download link at www.myspace.com/teenanalterrorist. The album's being distributed on a donation basis, so if you're completely destitute, don't worry. But, since we believe that people making a living doing what they love is a good thing, donations are encouraged. So if you find some form of enjoyment from the music, please give what you can.

I'm pleased to be working with two talented and well known international producers from Germany, Robert Natus (Abstract/Bitshift) and Arkus P (Abstract). I've been playing their music for the last 5 years and it will be a treat to have them perform in SF. In support will be myself (Catharsis), Mochipet (Daly City Records), DJ Intoner (Death Guild), Mitch (Death Guild), and Bloody Snowman (Daly City Records). This event will be a full night of quality music covering industrial-techno, breakcore, powernoise, and IDM.

This will be the last EGR event for quite some time, so come out and enjoy it and make this one to remember!

Where: DNA Lounge; 375 11th St. San Francisco CA
When: 10/17/07; SF 9:30pm to 2am
***If you would like to sign up for the EGR announcement email list (very low volume) and get a discount on entry send an email to katharsis7@yahoo.com w/ EGR List Entry in the title. This will give you a $5 ticket before 10pm, but if you are in line outside the venue before 9:30pm (opening) you will get in for free (cut off immediately at 9:30pm). If you're on a budget this is quite a deal for the lineup presented at Fractured!***

I am thinking of trying to start up a industrial/ebm/fetish night up here and was just wondering if there were any other industrial/ebm/goth folks up here in the wilds of Humboldt County who might be interested in such a night. I know there was something called Club Phantom up here for a while, but they're gone, as is Club Risque. I am going nuts without stompy music and there is WAY too much reggae here. But I appreciate there might not be a lot of us industrial types out here in the boonies.

You may also occasionally see me at Death Guild in SF. I have to get my stompy music fix somewhere, and I'm down there on business pretty often.

Immediately prior to watching three completely ridiculous acts combining comedy with industrial music, you will meet the love of your life (whoever you think that is now, you are SO wrong), win the Lottery in 12 different states, give birth, and have a truly amazing sandwich. Then you'll go out and celebrate at DNA Lounge by watching the Gothsicles' Nintendo-tronic melange of accordion-infused electronic dorkiness, being bombarded by Caustic's punk-rock-powernoise-meets-gay-porn freakshow, and then you'll bring it down a notch while See Colin Slash destroys your favorite industrial music dance hits to the soft sounds of smooth voices and inappropriately soulful acoustic guitar."-eric gottesman (see colin slash)

Because I've been so into Power Noize, Noise and Industrial/EBMish stuff lately, my performance will reflect a lot of that
sensibility.
I'm so excited, I just purchase a Feedback eliminator which will allow me to use very heavy distortion with vocals and found objects
without having all the uncontrollable feedback problems that occur with live microphones.

I'll also be projecting my new lo fi, toy digital video animations that I"ve been making at the show.
The King Cycle
September 16, 10:00 - 12:30
Someday Lounge
125 NW 5th, between Couch and Davis
$13 admission
21+, to say the least

Societas Insomnia is a troupe of veteran performers from the subcultures of ritual art, circus, sex, body modification, fire, butoh, and experimental music. We combine these marginalized forms to embody a world of living nightmare.

Our first year of shows; stretching from December 2004 to November 2005; developed a distinctive style of wordless and improvised movement-based theater drawing from the diverse backgrounds of our cast and the free sharing of methods and skills between us. Each of these four performances told one chapter in a mythic cycle of initiation, death, and rebirth that only the most attentive and loyal audience members had the chance to understand.

Therefore, we have chosen to open our residency at Someday Lounge with a comprehensive telling of that tale: The King Cycle, incorporating nearly the entire cast of all previous S.I. installments. Entirely new works will follow irregularly, continuing to explore the mythos of The Nightmare Company.

CAST

DIG - Noah Mickens
